A women’s gathering in support of The Santa Barbara Birth Center
Root & Rise is an intimate afternoon gathering created to support the future of Santa Barbara Birth Center. Guests are invited into a thoughtful day of food, conversation, movement, reflection, and community, held for a small circle of women who care about keeping relationship-based care rooted in Santa Barbara County.
*Space is limited to 30 to 35 guests.
The Gathering
Root & Rise is the first annual gathering of The Acorn Collective, a donor circle forming in support of Santa Barbara Birth Center. This intimate afternoon brings women together for guided offerings, shared food, conversation, and a closer look at the work this community can help carry forward.
Why It Matters
Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum ask for more than short visits and quick decisions. Families need skilled care, clear information, time, and relationships that can hold real questions as they arise. Root & Rise supports a model of care where families are known over time, birth is attended with steadiness and respect, and postpartum support continues into the first weeks.
The Experience
The day begins with a welcome hour and light refreshments before guests move into smaller guided experiences, with offerings that may include Kundalini yoga, astrology, and human design. Later, the group will gather for food, a toast, remarks from Laurel Phillips, and music and movement to close the evening.
A guided movement and breath practice to help guests arrive, settle, and connect with the tone of the day.

The Acorn Collective is a giving circle forming in support of Santa Barbara Birth Center. It begins with a simple idea: meaningful care needs roots. It needs people, space, time, and community commitment.
This circle is being created for those who want to strengthen the birth center beyond a single event or season. Early support may help sustain access to care, stabilize the center’s work, and prepare for future growth.
About Santa Barbara Birth Center
Santa Barbara Birth Center is a freestanding nonprofit birth center serving families in Santa Barbara County. The center offers midwifery care for healthy, low-risk pregnancies, postpartum and newborn support, women’s health care, classes, groups, and community resources.
Care is built through time, continuity, and relationship. When needs change, the birth center works in coordination with local hospitals and physicians so care can shift without ending the relationship.
